Stocks: Investors keep eyes pinned on Greece

Investors across the globe wait with bated breath ahead of Sunday's pivotal elections in recession-ravaged Greece.
Victory for the far-left anti-austerity parties could unravel Greece's bailout, raising concern the country could exit the euro currency union. And that could drag down other ailing euro nations and send shock waves through the world's financial markets.
In the United States, stocks managed to end the week with modest gains as investors remained hopeful that Greece's elections would yield a resolution. The Dow (INDU) rose 0.9%, the S&P 500 (SPX) added 1% and the Nasdaq (COMP)

ON FRIDAY DUE TO WEAK GLOBAL CUES AND MIXED ENDING FROM US indices, INDIAN MARKETS WERE DUE TO OPEN IN RED.
AS EXECTED NIFTY ALSO OPENED IN RED ONLY, BUT IF WE COMPARE THE LOSSES THAT IT WAS POSTING WERE COMPARATIVELY VERY MUCH LOWER THAN TO ITS ASIAN PEERS. (ASIAN WAS DOWN BETWEEN 1% TO 2% AND WE opened ALMOST falt then losses did increaed to 1%)
WE HAD ALREADY GIVEN MESSAGE TO OUR PAID CLIENTS THAT NIFTY MAY OPEN IN RED ON MONDAY BUT UNDER NO CASE IT WOULD CLOSE IN RED TERRITORY. AND SEE NIFTY ACTED N SAME PASSION WHAT WE HAD COMMUNICATED TO OUR PAID CLIENTS.
EVEN WHEN NIFTY FUTURES WERE AT HUGE DISCOUNT AND NIFTY SPOT WAS TRADING BELOW 5000 WE HAD TOLD OUR CLIENT TO BE CLAM, to HAVE SOME PATIENCE AND TRUST ON US.
JUST SEE IN THE END WHAT HAPPENED, NIFTY CLOSE WITH MARGINAL BUT GOOD POSITIVE GAINS (AS COMPARED TO IT WAS TRADING DURING WHOLE DAY TIME)

CHINA RRR CUT BY 50 BPS

China’s central bank cut the amount of cash that banks must hold as reserves on Saturday, pumping out more funds that could be used for lending to head off sharper slowdown in the world’s second-largest economy.
The People’s Bank of China delivered a 50-basis-point cut in banks’ reserve requirement ratio (RRR), effective from May 18.
The latest RRR cut – the third in six months — came a day after a flurry of data showed that the world’s second-largest economy was slowing faster than expected, with industrial production weakening sharply in April and investment slowing to its lowest level in nearly a decade.
Meanwhile China’s annual inflation rate for April moderated to 3.4 percent in April from 3.6 percent in March.
The cut in bank reserves also comes as bank lending in April came in at a disappointing 681.8 billion yuan ($108.04 billion), lower than the 800 billion forecast, which raised doubts on whether Beijing has money supply settings sufficiently loose to keep the economy on an even keel.
